Memorial Day

“To live under the American Constitution is the greatest political privilege

that was ever accorded to the human race” Calvin Coolidge

our pastor quoted calvin coolidge in his memorial day sermon.  how true, i loved the quote.  today our family plans to set aside some time to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could have such carefree weekends with our loved ones.  i have always felt memorial day was a somber holiday, yet as often happens when family and friends gather, a somber occasion becomes a joyful one. we spent saturday and sunday afternoon enjoying the lake.

my big kids, well their time was limited... they were studying for exams!
plus bennett was 'really' sick with a virus most of the weekend.
 this is the only time he was off the couch and it was only for about an hour.

the weather was glorious!

we bought a new summer toy ~ a kneeboard.
it is going to be a huge  hit.
it took a few tries for them to get the hang of it.

but once they did, they couldn't get enough.
begging the entire weekend for more - more - more!

this little one refused to give up!

mary claire started feeling extremely confident!

{showing off}

happy memorial day friends!
