first day

i haven't forgotten that i have more than one child celebrating back to school :) the girls have been so understanding with the lack of attention placed on them for the last couple of days! yes this is the first picture without their brother, but it is all happy thoughts from here on out! no more weepy moping around. (well, after my one post about move in day... it's very weepy and then i promise i am d.o.n.e.)  there are so many awesome things to celebrate! and no i am not medicated :) just relieved the worst part about a child leaving home is now a memory! this year we celebrate all things tenth grade and all things awesome about grade five! plus our family gets to be a gamecock and a tiger fan, how awesome is that!? pretty awesome!

they were excited! mary claire is in fifth grade and thrilled beyond pieces that she got mrs. herlong got for 'homeroom.' we are thrilled that all the fifth grade teachers are awesome and she will get to have them all!  fifth grade is a big deal. not only are allowed to eat in the cafeteria {gasp} :)  fifth graders also change classes. fifth grade is also the year kids are allowed to wear FLIP flops! i remember when i taught fourth grade thinking how grown up fifth graders looked. i can definitely see it coming!
anna katherine is in the tenth grade. such a sweet girl. i am thankful everyday for her 'drama-less' circle of friends. a few highlight this year include: biology! it's a tough class, so tough it is compared to freshman college biology.  french two. why french? only because the french teacher at wilson hall is made of pure awesome! ak may never use french on a daily basis, but three years with mr. warren is worth spanish via rosetta stone!  sculpting. i was thinking back to the cool sculptures at the art show. she is all about some art.  girlfriend was over the moon about this class.
my heart was filled with joy hearing all about their first day!
"Lord, I pray for Your emotional, physical, and spiritual protection over my kids. Keep evil far from them, and help them to trust You as their refuge and strength. I pray You will guard their minds from harmful instruction, and grant them discernment to recognize truth. I pray You will make them strong and courageous in the presence of danger, recognizing that You have overcome and will set right all injustice and wrong one day. Help them to find rest in Your shadow, as they live in the spiritual shelter You provide for them. Let them know that the only safe place is in Jesus, and that their home on earth is only temporary."
