you know your blogging is slack when your children ask why no posts? it has been a combination of (everyone) being busy and needing a little break from blogging.
the church service was amazing! our sunday school kids made resurrection eggs. we wanted each child to go home with their very own set. my fellow teacher and i started collecting egg cartons weeks ago. "breakfast for dinner" has been happening a lot! the friday before easter i panicked. we had 15 cartons and half of them held 18 eggs. there was a possibility of twice that many kids. amazon don't fail me now! i ordered two dozen empty cartons from amazon. (and empty egg cartons are not cheap)
so, amazon failed me. or so o thought. sunday afternoon my neighbor delivered my box of egg cartons. ups had delivered to the wrong house on saturday morning.
sheer panic, lol! with a little slicing and dicing, we made due.
a week later we were still laughing at our panic... boy if this isn't a north american church prob ;)
easter sunday, lore from ecuador emailed me a picture of the youth on easter sunday! praise God for the attendance. what a blessing!
after church we celebrated at the smokes house. the food is always fabulous. the company was even more fabulous! this year bennett and "crew" were allowed to hide the easter eggs.... OH THE DRAMA!
bennett is still a kid at heart (chase and anna katherine included) they hid the eggs in places adults could not even reach. they buried eggs in potting soil and who knows where the golden egg ever went.
this is an annual occurrence. bennet shaking and slinging sarah anne as Liza watches in horror! bennett is rough and sa is tough!
little roger... he is everyone's weakness! man that boy is SO adorable! and athletic! just try to steal an egg-football from that fella.
the "boys"... let me rephrase. bennett ended up helping roger in finding the really hidden eggs. which infuriated the
girls sarah anne.
"roger, we are the men! we have to have each other's backs."
this has become our fabled dinner show. all of our family gathered together, misty rain, watching from the back porch with all you can eat deviled eggs... this dramatic egg hunt is some of the best entertainment our family has to offer!
it was such a great day!!before the day was over the girls and i picked flowers from our neighbor's yard. in year's past we would pick flowers on easter morning from her yard to place on the cross at church. she passed away a few weeks ago. this year we decided to use the flowers as our easter centerpiece. we smiled at how charismatic it turned out... just like lynn!
and we dyed eggs :)
