it's part of the seventh grade curriculum at school: shelling. every seventh grade summer vacation is met with over the top excitement about sea shells. this year was just as expected!

days leading up to our vacation, mary claire gathered the shell books from the bookshelf and began making a list of shells found in the florida keys. (there's a tackle box that sits tucked away in our attic full of neatly labeled shells when anna katherine was this age)
i love the determination!
we loaded the boat with snorkels and masks. we bought another half dozen sets of swim shoes. (we have a bucket full that we manage to forget every year!)  i purchased a few inflatable body boards because i am still terrified to be submerged in the ocean.
so i begin family vacation part one :)
